Next Hike on December 5, 2009

Our Next hike will be on Saturday 12/5/09. We will be going to Camelback Mountain and start from the Echo Canyon Trailhead. This hike is 2.3 miles Round Trip with an elevation change of 1,300 Feet.

This is a strenuous and difficult climb up a steep rocky trail to the top of Camelback Mt. where we will have spectacular 360 degree views of the Valley of the Sun. The trail crosses a sandy wash and then begins its relentless climb to the summit. At about ¼ mile you reach a small saddle where you have terrific views of the eroded boulders and cliffs. The trail gets much steeper as it goes up a slickrock area at base of huge cliff. There is a handrail here to assist with the climb. The trail then climbs up a boulder strewn gully to the summit.
