7.4 mile round trip that ends in a box canyon surrounded by red sandstone walls.  The trail starts out in open sunny area with yucca and manzanita but about 2 miles in we enter the mouth of the canyon where there are maple, hoptree, alder and oak and pine trees.  Hopefully we will have timed our hike correctly and we will be rewarded with beautiful fall colors enhanced by the red rocks of Sedona.

DESCRIPTION: 7 miles out/back with 340 ft. Elevation Gain. Facilities at TH. TH is accessible to cars. Bring 2 quarts of water and a snack.

The Bell trail is named after rancher Charles Bell who developed the trail.  The first part of the trail is on a old jeep road that is on the north bank of Wet Beaver Creek. About 2 miles in the trail starts to gently climb up a high shelf overlooking the creek.  At 3.5 miles we come to Bell Crossing which is our lunch and turnaround spot.  If it’s a warm day you can take a dip in creek.

December – No Hike

January 13:  Wave Cave - Superstitions
Meet at All Saints Parking lot at 8AM and we will leave by 8:15 AM

Description: 3.5 miles out/back with 900 ft. Elevation gain. TH is accessible to cars and has a Port-a-Potty at TH. Bring 2 quarts of water and a snack.

This is a short hike but due to elevation gain and the slippery gravel
as you start the steep part of the climb I would rate as moderately difficult. We start out West on the Lost Goldmine Trail just off Peralta Rd. and hike in a about a mile to the  Carney Springs trail where we turn right and go through the gate.  The climbing will start shortly after this.  The cave gets its name from the rock formation at the front that looks like a huge wave. Great views and beautiful desert scenery.

Feb. 10 Wild Burro/Alamo Springs loop – Tortolita Mts. near Marana
Meet at All Saints Parking Lot at 7 AM and we leave at 7:15.

Description : 7.5 mile loop with EV change of about 795 ft.  TH accessible to cars. Bring 2 quarts of water and snack

This is a beautiful desert hike in an area we have never hiked in before.  We start out on the Wild Burro trail to Wild Burro Canyon trail.  The trail winds in/out of wash and passes an old stone line cabin and then the trail starts climbing up to Alamo Spring trail (no water). Beautiful desert hike including some petroglyphs along the way.

This hike combines the Spur Cross, Limestone and Metate Trails and part of the Elephant Mtn. Trail.  We cross Cave Creek several times on the Spur Cross and Metate trails and weave through terraces and floodplains with lush vegetation . The Limestone trail follows a ridge line with many spectacular views. When we get to the Junction with the Elephant mtn. trail we head south (Not hiking up Elephant Mtn.) through a nice grassy area with wildflowers.

April 21 – Wolf Creek Falls Loop - Prescott
Meet at All Saints Parking lot 7 AM and leave by 7:15

Description: 7.7 mile loop with EV change of about 800 ft.  Facilities at trailhead.  TH is accessible to cars.  Bring 2 quarts of water and a snack.

A beautiful hike through the forest to two waterfalls on Wolf Creek.  The second waterfall is about 60 ft. in height and if the water isn’t running too heavily you can go behind the waterfall in a small cave.  There is the possibility that there won’t be any water if we haven’t had a good snowfall during the winter but it is still a beautiful hike and we will see the headwaters of the Hassayampa River.

May 19 - Rim Vista Loop – Payson area near Woods Canyon Lake
Meet at All Saints Parking lot 7 AM and leave by 7:15

Description: 7 miles with EV change of about 350 ft. Facilities at trailhead.  TH is accessible to cars.   Bring 2 quarts of water and a snack.

A beautiful hike on the top of the Mogollon Rim. We will hike the General Crook trail to the Meadow trail which will take us across to the Rim Vista trail which winds its way along the edge of the escarpment known as the Mogollon Rim.  Beautiful Zane Gray country. We will find a spot somewhere along the rim to enjoy our lunch/snack and enjoy the fantastic views.
